Carole Baker & Bob Russon
Carole's affinity with the countryside leaves her with no lack of inspiration when it comes to painting. She spends many hours walking & sketching which helps her to capture the atmosphere & feeling of a place. Her latest work comprises not just landscapes but woodland, coastal, figurative & townscape scenes. She exhibits nationally and her work is published. She runs regular workshops where her reputation for providing challenging, informative & experimental sessions is ever growing.
Bob Russon's interest lies in the images to be found within close up pictures of natural and man-made surfaces affected by weathering and the passage of time.
He uses photographs of these surfaces to create abstract or semi-abstract sea and landscapes.
Carole and Bob welcome you to their exhibition where they will be available to discus their work, inspiration and techniques.
Staffordshire Open Studios...was established by local, professional and semi-professional artists in 2002, as a FREE event to showcase the wealth of creative talent within Staffordshire.
Preview Exhibition
Date: 22 JULY – 15 AUGUST
An exhibition of work by participating artists for Open Studios 2008 will be on show in Lichfield Cathedral from tbc. Displays will be in the Chapter House and North & South Transepts.
Lichfield Cathedral’s 3 spires known as the “Ladies of the Vale” draw many visitors who want to see and learn more about this ancient and beautiful building. The cathedral houses many treasures including the 8th Century Lichfield Gospels, which can be seen in the Chapter House together with 19th Century stained glass by Kempe.
The Close around the Cathedral still has remnants of the medieval fortifications, so important during the Civil War, and a range of architectural styles, which included the 15th Century Vicar’s Close, Bishop’s Palace (1687), a Deanery dating from 1703 and several 18th Century buildings including Erasmus Darwin House.
Lichfield Cathedral is open all year round between 8.30am and 5.00pm, and the open studios exhibition can be viewed between these hours (unless there is a service or concert).
Admission to the exhibition is free.
