A Testimonial from a student who attended a 3-day acrylics workshop in November 2009...
Hi Carole
Just to say thank you again for a really super workshop last week. I thoroughly enjoyed it and really feel that I have learnt a lot.
I felt LOST on Sunday - withdrawal symptons kicked in and I really wanted to paint.
Ideas are buzzing round in my head and I can't wait to get cracking again and most of this is due to your influence and encouragement. You really DO inspire. So HUGE thanks!!!! Also it was good to meet other people and to share the experience. I think you have a good formula for the workshop experience and the location is excellent. Can't wait for the next one. So let me know when you've planned one and I will come if I am free.
In the meantime - happy painting.
Regards MA

Introduced in 2009, this workshop has proved hugely popular! The landscape will be the framework which you will build on to move into abstraction. Some people paint abstracts entirely from their imaginations, but having something 'real' as the starting point gives a direction to start working in, to kickstart your imagination. Whether you are already working in landscape and want a little more edge to your work or are trying to find an approach to abstraction, this workshop should help you.
Cost: £35.

The 3-day workshop will give you time to develop compositional planning, designs and ideas. Cost: £145 for 3 days includes tuition, lunch and refreshments each day.

To reserve your place, email Carole via the ‘Contact’ button and you will be sent a booking form. Please complete and return the booking form together with payment. If there is not a viable number of students, workshops may be cancelled and payment returned. The booking is non transferable. Should you cancel your place on a workshop, 50% of the course fee will be refunded. It is regretted that no refund can be made in respect of bookings cancelled 30 days (or less) prior to the date of the workshop.

'Adventures in Acrylics'
...in Snowdonia with Brush-Strokes
Dates: 16-19 August 2010

Organised by ‘Brush-Strokes’, the venue is a comfortable converted chapel in the village of Dolwyddelan near Betws-y-Coed where an exciting programme of painting breaks is run throughout the year. The groups are kept small so everyone receives individual attention.

For my 6th year at Brush-Strokes, I am offering a 4-day course painting in acrylics. This course is a fun, creative approach to using acrylics, canvas, papers, texture and much more. Carole's enthusiasm and creative experience allows everyone to enjoy the strength and flexibility of acrylics. You will learn methods of handling the medium, creative use of colour and layering. Students will create representational and non-representational finished works. You will receive daily demonstrations although this is not a demonstration-led course – students are encouraged to put their own personal stamp on the subject. Individual critiques and one-on-one help included.

Content includes sketching in and around the area of Dolwydellan, paintings from a sketchbook, working with a limited palete and compositional planning.

"My aim is to explore and create an emotional response and in doing so, encourage the viewer to explore and tap into their own imagination and creativity."

Date: 16-19 August
Cost: £200
Booking: Please contact Ann Fellows at Brush-Stokes on 01690 750488
