“This joyful painting was inspired by a series of watercolour sketches I made last summer while wandering through the flower fields at Sheriffhales in Shropshire. The fields, brimming with Larkspur in full bloom, were just days away from harvest. Grown especially for Shropshire Petals to be used as natural confetti, these vibrant flowers created a dazzling spectacle — a sea of blues, violets, lilacs, and soft pinks dancing in the breeze.
In the distance, The Wrekin rests quietly on the horizon, framed by a tree line and peaceful meadows. There was a stillness to that moment, a deep sense of contentment and joy in the landscape. Pure Delight is my response to that experience — a painting full of light and colour, celebrating nature’s exuberance and the gentle happiness found in a fleeting summer day.”
